Join us later this month on Tuesday, May 21 at 7:00pm for our May Neighborhood Meeting at SpringHill Suites. Our guest presenter is Christina Nifong, Communications Manager for Local Environmental Agriculture Project (LEAP). Following her presentation, we will hold a brief business meeting. (Read more below about our new meeting location at SpringHill Suites, 301 Reserve Ave SW.)

As LEAP’s Communications Manager, Christina Nifong, loves telling the story of LEAP and its wide-ranging impact in our community. LEAP is a Roanoke-based 501c3 nonprofit. Founded in 2009, LEAP strives to nurture equitable food and farming systems that prioritize health and abundance. LEAP programs include two farmers markets, a mobile market, a farm share, a food hub, a commercial kitchen, three community gardens, and robust nutrition incentive programs. LEAP will be opening a retail store in 2024 at its location in Roanoke’s West End neighborhood. LEAP also serves as a fiscal sponsor for Roanoke Foodshed Network and Virginia Fresh Match. ABOUT OUR NEW MEETING LOCATION STARTING IN MAY!

SpringHill Suites 301 Reserve Ave. SW

Our move to SpringHill Suites for our regular meetings is an exciting opportunity to provide a modern, comfortable meeting experience for our attendees. The beautiful, meeting-ready space at 301 Reserve Ave SW offers excellent acoustics, AV equipment, improved accessibility, and ample, safe parking. Attendees coming from work or other engagements can take advantage of the refreshment available on site at the restaurant. And finally, there is NO FEE for our use of the room. We appreciate General Manager Neil Ordway's generous offer of these facilities for our regular meetings.

We want to express our gratitude to South Roanoke United Methodist Church, and Crystal Spring Elementary/Roanoke City Public Schools before that, for renting their facilities to us over the years. While we are making this move to SpringHill Suites for our regular meetings, Neighbors in South Roanoke will likely return to these rented venues for large events.
