SoRo Neighbors 4th of July 2026 Block Party, Parade & Picnic (PHOTOS)

The oppressive heatwave of late June and early July 2026 didn't keep us from coming together to kickoff Independence Day with our neighbors. Thank you, Rookie's Ice Cream, for bringing the sweets and cool comfort to our morning.

The heatwave has made for a very busy summer for our public safety personnel. Shout out to the Roanoke Fire & EMS heroes at Station #8. After helping us set up for our celebration, they were called out on an emergency requiring all crew members and their equipment. They missed joining in the parade this year but arrived back to the station just in time to enjoy some ice cream.

The most important take-away from another SoRo Neighbors 4th of July: Never underestimate the value of a couple of hours in the shade with family, friends (old & new), a sprinkler, a kiddie wading pool, and lots of red, white, and blue!
