Safety & Crime in SoRo: Survey Results

On March 13, Neighbors in South Roanoke distributed via email an online survey entitled "Safety & Crime in SoRo" to registered neighbors and subscribers. The survey was also posted publicly on social media. By March 17at 9:00am, when the survey period ended, 60 neighbors had completed the survey!
Respondents took the opportunity to share their feelings, perceptions, and experiences on the following:
General Safety.
How safe do you feel in South Roanoke generally?
How safe do you feel in South Roanoke at night?
How safe do you feel walking/biking in South Roanoke?
Crime Perception.
Please describe any instances of crime you have witnessed or experienced in South Roanoke in the last year.
Do you think crime in South Roanoke has increased, decreased, or remained the same in the past year?
What are the most common types of crimes that you feel are a concern in South Roanoke?
Safety Concerns.
Are there specific locations in South Roanoke where you feel unsafe or have concerns?
What factors contribute to making you feel unsafe in South Roanoke?
The survey results are posted for public view in summary presentation form and in full.
Neighbors in South Roanoke has shared the results with the Roanoke Police Department.
To respondents who requested direct contact from the RPD, those requests have been relayed.
