As winter fades and South Roanoke comes back to life with blooming flowers and budding trees, there’s another welcome sign of the season—FOUR NEW pedestrian safety crossing signs are now in place!

Announced at our January meeting, these long-awaited crossing signs have officially been installed throughout the neighborhood this week. Their arrival marks another important step toward making our streets safer and more accessible for everyone.

You'll find the new pedestrian safety signs at the following locations:

  • Evans Mill Road at Rosalind Avenue (near River’s Edge)

  • Jefferson Street at 26th Street

  • 26th Street at Rosalind Avenue

  • McClanahan Street at Rosalind Avenue

The Board of Neighbors in South Roanoke extends sincere thanks to the many partners who helped bring this project to life. We are especially grateful to Roanoke Neighborhood Advocates, Neighborhood Services Coordinator Molly Hunter, Transportation Division Manager Dwayne D'Ardenne, and Complete Streets & Vision Zero Administrator Rob Issem.

These new crossings are the result of strong teamwork and a shared commitment to improving safety for pedestrians, cyclists, and drivers alike. As our neighborhood continues to grow busier, efforts like these help ensure that South Roanoke remains a safe, walkable, and welcoming community for all.

Neighobrs in South Roanoke is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization.
